Although study continues, it may be postulated that “enriching” the blood with the Myogence formula of amino acids aids the exercising body in at least three ways. First, readily available substrates in the blood decrease the workload on the liver to otherwise produce them thus reducing caloric energy utilized by the liver during exercise resulting in more caloric energy available for activity.  Second, ready supply of amino acids and polypeptides as delivered by Myogence may facilitate skeletal muscle repair. More rapid skeletal muscle repair may provide greater skeletal muscle availability for strength and stamina related to activity as well as recycling muscle as energy supply. Third, substrates presented by Myogence appear to have a positive impact on cardiovascular performance. Studies have indicated numerous relationships between amino acids and cardiovascular performance. Some more intriguing studies have cited improved stroke volume and vascularization. Richard W. Drummond, Ph.d.

Dr. Drummond received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara and his Doctorate from the University of Texas Medical Branch. Upon graduation, he served as a Research Associate in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he later completed a Clinical Pathology Fellowship in the Laboratory Medicine Program in the Department of Pathology. Upon completion of his Fellowship, he served as the founding Diretor of the Hyperalimentation Research Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston under Dr. Stanley Dudrick. There he jontly served as the founding Technical Director of famed heart surgeon Dr. Denton Cooley’s out-patient Clinical Laboratory.

After the closing of the clinic, Dr. Drummond reopened the laboratory as Drummond Clinical Laboratory, Inc. and in 14 years became one of the largest independent laboratories serving many of the top specialists’ private practice in the Texas Medical Center and Long term Care Facilities throughout the Houston Metro area.

In 2004, Dr. Drummond founded Xpress Clinical Laboratory, LP and established a laboratory management contract with the Acute Care Hospitals, Doctors Hospital Parkway and Tidwell. Today, Xpress Clinical Laboratory is the largest clinical laboratory serving Long Term Care Facilities in the Houston Metro area.
